With a fair drive from Poolewe, where we were camping, to Incheril it was 11.00 in a crowded car park before we got started. A lovely day and promising to be good all day. Took the higher of two paths, winding through mud banks and seemingly the Slioch path but joined the lower path later on - seemed a waste of effort doing the higher path, especially as it's a three mile stint. At the end of the path you cross a bridge over the burn and then the real walk begins. Actually it is relatively easy, just a slog up a very well defined path, quite eroded in parts. There were lots of people on the path, almost like Ben Nevis at times. We passed and were passed by several people including one guy who had his son of about 12 with him. The boy clearly did not want to be here and was suffering badly. But his dad kept egging him on. We were amongst the slowest but we kept ahead of that couple. The path goes right up to the top which has a double summit. As is so often the case it is difficult to say which part is the actual top. We selected the one marked with a trig point for photos (and we were right) but used the other for scenery photos and lunch (Guinness (what else) and Grolsch for Graeme). The views from this hill are fantastic, made even better by it being a lovely, clear day. Usually
the Hebrides are just a smudge but today stood out showing mountains and all. Continuing the horseshoe we came down the ridge which was a little entertaining in parts, rocky but easy. Coming off the ridge we started too early and ended up going down some rather steep slopes - I don't enjoy these at all. This meant we had a longer than expected walk down until we eventually met the path again. Then of course there was the three mile walk back to the car, this time using the lower path where we met a number of people who had been walking along the lochside. A very tiring day but not a difficult one.
